Shiloh College is a historic school building located at 13043 Walnut St. in Shiloh Hill, Illinois. The Greek Revival building was constructed in 1881 for Shiloh College, a teachers' college founded in 1839. Shiloh College aspired to draw students from throughout Illinois; however, Shiloh Hill was bypassed by the railroad and Southern Illinois Normal University in Carbondale attracted most of the state's teaching students. As a result, the college never attracted many students outside of the surrounding area and closed in 1896. At this point, the school building became a local grade school. It served as a public school until 1954, when the school was consolidated with another. The building's historic significance is primarily derived from its service as a primary school; it is one of two one-room schoolhouses remaining in the Shiloh Hill area. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 15, 2005.〔 ==References==
